Rock Eagle 2009 Family Adventure session - Nov 21st
Mark your calendar today! Plan to attend our last 2009 Family Adventure session scheduled for Saturday, November 21st. Join Rock Eagle staff for a night hike through our woods and discover the various night life! Afterwards, enjoy a campfire with hot chocolate, songs, and story time! Dress warm!! The session will begin at 7:00 pm at Rock Eagle 4-H Center’s Natural History Museum. Registration is required and the cost is $5 per adults, $3.00 for children 5-12 years old and free for children 4 years and younger. To sign up please call Kelly Scott at 706-484-2834. NFHS Young Hearts for Africa Plan 1st Annual ‘Walk for Water’ - Nov 22nd
NFHS Young Hearts for Africa Plan 1st Annual ‘Walk for Water’ North Forsyth High School Young Hearts for Africa club will host the 1st annual ‘Walk for Water’ at the North Forsyth High School cross country track on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at 1:00 pm. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness about the plight of children in Africa who must walk 4 miles every day to carry 50 pounds of water to their families. Registration is only $10 and proceeds from the event will benefit Young Hearts travelling to Kenya this December to work at an orphanage supported by Heart for Africa and to support Heart for Africa’s water initiatives in Swaziland. ‘Walk for Water’ participants will walk a total of 4 miles – 2 miles to the ‘well’ and 2 miles back similar to the journey children in Africa make each day to get water for their families. Some walkers will carry a 50 pound sandbag back from the well – the same weight as the water carried by the children in Africa. Heart for Africa is a faith-based not-for-profit 501c3 charity. Stone Mountain Village Christmas Celebration - Nov 27th
Stone Mountain Village Christmas Celebration November 27th 6:00-8:30 The City of Stone Mountain will be holding its annual Stone Mountain Village Christmas Celebration on Thursday, November 27 2009. The celebration, which takes place the day after Thanksgiving every year will be held on Main Street in downtown Stone Mountain from 6 pm until 8:30 pm. The evening will kick off at 6:00 with live Christmas music all night from The Ruby Reds Band, an arts and crafts show, holiday shopping with the downtown merchants, marshmallow roasting, and the letter writing station. Santa will arrive on his sleigh at 6:30 pm and will visit with children until he lights the Stone Mountain Christmas tree at 8 pm. The celebration will end with the fantastic fireworks finale at 8:15. Toys for Tots collection day - Dec 5th
Steve Rayman Chevrolet and the United States Marines are pleased to announce a very special collection day for the Toys for Tots program. From 8.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m. December 5th, Steve Rayman Chevrolet will provide a lube, oil, and filter change on your vehicle in exchange for a new unwrapped gift for the kids. Emory-Adventist Hospital 8th annual Holiday Home Tour - Dec 6th
Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna will hold its 8th annual Holiday Home Tour, Sunday, December 6, noon to 6:00 p.m. The tour will feature homes in the Smyrna/Vinings area. Each home will be decorated for the holiday season, highlighting the talents of local designers and decorators. The tour is sponsored by the Foundation of Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna. The Marietta Daily Journal, Costco Wholesale at Cumberland, Karen’s Gifts, Los Bravos Mexican Restaurant and Community Bank of the South serve as co-sponsors for this year’s event. Proceeds from the annual Holiday Home Tours go to benefit the programs and projects of The Foundation of Emory-Adventist Hospital. Admission is $20 per person. The ticket provides admission to the tour of homes, as well as a tearoom and auction at The Community Bank of the South. You may purchase tickets by calling 770-319-2025.
