What is Radiothon?
Star 94 listeners will meet some of biggest “stars” of all - the patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - during the seventh annual Star 94 Cares for Kids radiothon, November 12-14. The Cares for Kids radiothon will feature stories of triumph and hope from families Children’s has touched, as well as meet current patients at the hospital who will share their own experiences live on the air. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support a number of programs and services, as well as much needed equipment for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a not-for-profit pediatric healthcare organization.

During the three-day radiothon, Star 94 completely changes the station’s format to dedicate the time to raise awareness and funds for Children’s. The morning team of Cindy and Ray, mid-day host Heather Branch and Darik at Night will host their shows live from Children’s at Scottish Rite.

This event truly exemplifies the generosity here in Georgia. In six years, Star 94 listeners have donated more than $6.6 million in support of the patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. As the metro Atlanta area continues to grow, we are grateful to have this hospital system ready and able to care for our kids. This year, we are counting on our generous Star 94 community to bring even greater hope and support.

How You Can Help

Adam Klafter
Adam was born with a rare genetic skin disorder that occurs in one in every 350,000 births. The upper layers of Adam’s skin do not bond together, leaving it fragile and susceptible to tearing with any friction or pressure. Adam’s body also produces skin at a rapid rate, which builds up thick, excess skin on his hands and feet—making simple tasks like walking very painful. Such build-up can also create skin infections, because bacteria can easily become trapped under the layers of skin. With Adam’s fragile skin, his treatment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and at home is a challenge that includes continuous experimentation with creams and ointments, most of which are prescription-based. Adam typically takes a long bath every day with salt water to cleanse his skin. He faces his condition with courage, and he doesn’t let it get in the way of having fun in the pool and playing miniature golf. Adam is now a 7-year-old who looks forward to a future career as a race car driver.
Isaiah Johnson
Two of Isaiah’s favorite things were art and helping people. Combined, his favorite things paved a natural path to his participation in the Holiday Card Program and are gifts his friends and family cherish. As a student at Park Elementary School, Isaiah not only excelled at art, but also inspired his classmates to give their schoolwork 100 percent. He enjoyed playing basketball, swimming, playing arcade games and the cartoon characters Scooby-Doo and SpongeBob SquarePants. Isaiah also loved people and sprang into action when they needed help, often dropping his spare change into collection boxes. According to a nurse at the Aflac Cancer Center, his personality lit up the room during his visits for various surgeries and chemotherapy. Isaiah lost his battle against cancer in July 2009. His mother, Tiffanny, hopes his memory will inspire others to pursue their passions and help other children who continue to bravely battle cancer.
