Current Song: Good Girls Go Bad & Hot Mess
Cobra Starship was born in New York and burst onto the scene with an über-catchy dance-pop-rock single named "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)." The song -- which featured Saporta performing alongside fellow vocalists Maja Ivarsson (the Sounds), Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes), and William Beckett (The Academy Is...) -- was the lead track off the 2006 soundtrack to Snakes on a Plane, a horror comedy starring Samuel L. Jackson. Its video hit the MTV airwaves that July and featured cameos from Jackson and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. Meanwhile, Cobra Starship continued work on a full-length album of their own. ...

It’s been a whirlwind couple of years for The Fray, the Denver-based quartet whose earnest and melodic songs have been striking a huge chord with audiences. Formed in 2002 by Isaac Slade (vocals, piano) and Joe King (guitar, vocals), The Fray owe all of their early success to their organic, grassroots beginnings. In other words, they did it the old fashioned way: they earned it. It’s a story you don’t hear much anymore these days: local area gigs led to enthusiastic local press and local radio support.

Pop/R&B singer Justin Bieber was just barely into his teens when he was discovered by talent agent and former So So Def marketing executive Scooter Braun. An Ontario native, Bieber placed second in a local singing competition in 2007 and began posting contest videos on YouTube. The videos caught the attention of Braun, who helped Bieber gain an impromptu audition with R&B star Usher. Impressed by what he saw, Usher, along with Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Owl City is the electronic brainchild of Adam Young, who launched the project in 2007 while living at his parents' home in Owatonna, MN. Troubled by insomnia, Young began spending his evenings in the household basement, where a computer and several instruments provided a welcome diversion from his sleeping patterns. He eventually combined those diversions into a blend of electronica and emo-pop, using little more than his computer and various keyboards to record the material.
