Born in New Jersey, John was raised in the picturesque mountains of North Carolina and attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee. His radio career has taken him to Fayetteville, NC, Charlotte, Detroit and Huntington, WV, where he became a big Marshall University football fan.

John then shifted to the record industry for nine years, working for such artists as Natalie Merchant, Tracy Chapman, Jackson Brown, Staind, Jason Mraz, Lenny Kravitz, Third Eye Blind, Metallica and AC/DC. He returned to broadcasting and joined Star 94 as a part-time air personality and fill-in traffic reporter. He also started his own production company, John McFadden Productions, Inc.

When not on the air, John enjoys playing tennis with his wife Windsor, golfing and spending as much time as he can with his two sons, William (13) and Heath (10).
