Icy conditions in North GA Mountains force some schools to delay (VIDEO)

The snow is gone, but the road hazard remains overnight into Monday morning as much of the melted snow is expected to refreeze on roadways.

School districts in Fannin, Towns, and Union counties plan to delay the start of school for two hours on Monday as a result of the possibility of icy conditions on area roadways.

Saturday's snow storm in north Georgia took many by surprise. Forecasts on Friday and Saturday morning called for anywhere between flurries and a half inch of snow on the ground, not the three to five inches north Georgia actually got.

Reports of snow accumulation poured into Fox 5 News on Saturday as a system moved through. It appears the deepest snowfall was about 8 miles north of Ellijay.
