PAP TESTS: It probably won’t cause the furor like we saw regarding mammograms, but new guidelines on cervical cancer tests say women in their 20s can get a pap test every two years instead of annually. Cervical cancer is slow-growing and the concern was too much testing could harm a woman’s fertility later in life. Click here to get more on the story.

BACK TO NORMAL: Flight schedules were running smoothly again at Hartsfield-Jackson and the nation’s other airport this morning. Yesterday’s FAA computer glitch delayed and canceled flights for at least five hours. Apparently, the problem originated in Salt Lake City, forcing flight plans to be entered manually. Click here to see frustrated fliers in Atlanta.

OBAMACARE VOTE: Senate Democrats are trying to garner support for tomorrow night’s planned procedural vote on health care reform (with public option). Republicans were plotting to delay things by reading all 2,000 pages of the bill aloud – but have backed off… Democrats may tack on a 5% “Botax” on cosmetic procedures like face lifts and tummy tucks to help pay for Obamacare.

METRO ATLANTA: A suspicious package left outside the Temple Synagogue on Peachtree St. in Midtown turned out to be newspapers… Police used hand-held metal detectors to search North Clayton High students during a two-hour lockdown. But a reported gun was not found… Metro police are wondering if the “lunchtime robber” will strike his 8th bank around noon today.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT: North Carolina authorities have charged the man already accused of kidnapping 5-year-old Shaniya Davis with her murder. They believe he raped and asphyxiated her before dumping the body in some woods… There's a federal court sentencing scheduled in Miami today in the plot to destroy Chicago's Sears Tower and bomb FBI offices.

TURKEY DAY: The maker of nearly all the canned pumpkin product in this country is warning would-be pie bakers to pick some up this week if they see it, because it may not be available next week. Cold, wet weather has put a dent in this season’s harvest… A new poll by Dunkin Donuts found 58% of Americans plan to take a nap on Thanksgiving Day.

WATER COOLER: Oprah Winfrey will announce on today’s show that it will end on September 9, 2011 – its 25th anniversary… See Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner get testy with a House committee over the economic bailout… Forbes named Will Ferrell as Hollywood’s most overpaid star. Click here for more on these stories.

“UGA VII” DIES: The Bulldog Nation is mourning the death of “Uga VII” – the English bulldog that marched along Georgia sidelines for the past two seasons. He passed away unexpectedly in Savannah from a heart attack. The Seiler family - who has brought up all of the Ugas - will probably wait until next year to appoint a successor.

WEEKEND SPORTS: Georgia hosts Kentucky at Sanford Stadium tomorrow night… The Falcons play the Giants Sunday in New York… The red-hot Hawks host the Rockets tonight at Philips Arena and then travel to New Orleans tomorrow night… The Thrashers play two at home this weekend – Pittsburgh tomorrow and Tampa Bay on Sunday.
