What Are the 4 Most DANGEROUS Days of the Year?...

Cracked.com recently listed the the most dangerous days of the year, according to statistics....Here are the Top 4:

1) July 1st- Actually, if you have to go to the emergency room, this entire month is dangerous because every July 1st, hospitals across the country take on their newest batch of interns. (Remember when they dubbed George O'Malley "007" on Grey's Anatomy???) According to a Harvard study, this results in an additional 1,500 to 3,000 deaths every July...
But, I mean, if your appendix is about to burst, go to the hospital. Don't wait until August!

2) The Second Monday in March- The first Sunday in March is daylight savings time, so the Monday immediately following is the first workday with the time change and since people are sleep-deprived, the number of accidents goes way up.  You're also more likely to have a work-related accident,  and on the first 3 workdays after the time change, the number of serious heart attacks goes up by 6-10%.

3) New Year's Eve- This one is kinda obvious...Drunk driving is the biggest killer on New Year's Eve, but have you ever heard of "drunk walking?" More people die while walking down the street on Dec. 31st than any other day of the year.

4) Christmas Day- You've probably heard that suicide rates spike around the holidays but, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, suicide rates actually go down during the winter months and are highest in the Spring...
But between 1973 and 2001, 53 million "natural deaths" occurred on Christmas Day, which is more than any other day of the year.
Some reasons include: Increased stress, more physical activity, fattier foods, and . . . increased use of fireplaces. It's because the fumes can cause cardiovascular problems.
Plus, there aren't as many doctors and nurses on duty.

So, if you ever plan to call in sick to work, when you really just want to sleep in, may I suggest referencing the above list while making your "stay at home" plans! :)
